Being from the South, Nyla Cox is privy to the racism that exists toward African Americans. As a young child, Nyla witnessed many racist challenges firsthand. Although whites had been the overall cause, Nyla is more convinced that it is the pain inflicted by her own race, which is far worse.
Implosive colorism was an act that Nyla was no stranger to throughout her life, yet she still would strive for better. Despite Nyla’s countless attempts for a better life, her dark complexion continued to be a daily reminder of the horrible life she would have moving forward.
Things take an even darker path when Nyla believes she has found a solution to all of her problems. Nyla knows that her solution will take some self-convincing. Will this brown brown girl be able to work up enough nerve to fix her problems once and for all?
