Frequently Asked Questions

How do you help your clients? We offer content editing, copy editing, ghostwriting, formatting, distribution, speak to print, transcription, file copyright information, register ISBN numbers, Manage ISBN Numbers, create book covers*, and provide coaching services to teach others to publish for themselves.

How long does your process take? Typical books are started and completed normally within 90 days, dependent on payment schedules and calendar updates. At the time of your start we anticipate completing your work within 90 days.

Can my completion date change? Yes, if payments are made at different times, or review periods last longer than expected. The author is engaged in every step of the process. Also, if the author wants to do a re-write, this will add considerable time and may even render the time period back to start or later.

How does the calendar work? We take on new clients as we look at our calendar to ensure every client has the best customer service and quality of service. When deadlines or missed or schedules are adjusted, it changes how we can render services. It is important that if there are any changes, those changes are communicated as quickly as possible.

Do you charge late fees? No we do not charge late fees on payments. If there is a delay on your account for more than 30 days, we will remove you from our calendar. Once you are removed from our calendar, you must wait until we have a opening to resume any services. We do charge a restart fee to be added back to the calendar. And the ability to resume a service is subject to KLE’s availability and the request can be denied to our discretion to restart any project that has been removed from our calendar.

What does KLE do to help the author? We assist with customer service associated with delivering and printing books, we report on all orders sold, we provide free graphics to help generate pre-sales and sales of the book, we provide tips on selling books, creating ads, and providing consulting when requested. We help authors set sales goals and determine revenue based on books sales and other services that can be coupled to make more sales or spread awareness. We also provide every author with their own landing page on the site for customers and readers to connect with them and reserve them for speaking engagements. We recommend authors have a domain name to access the page directly, but it is not mandatory to have the page. KLE manages the pages and makes updates.

How much will my book cost? We recommend all books that are self published sell for at least $20 and an additional $5 on sites and distribution channels outside of KLE. KLE does not charge fees to sale authors books from their site like traditional publishers as a percentage of the book cost. This cost can be 30-35% on average of the sales price. All major outlets will charge a percentage of 40 – 35% of the sales, we distribute to 39,000 outlets currently that includes Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and many other platforms.

When I publish my book, does that include a e-book too? We offer a digital copy of your book on the KLE website. We do charge a flat fee of $.50 per digital copy that is emailed to the customer. They have 3 days to download the file, if not the file will expire. Digital downloads can be resent 1 additional time, after that there is a $1.99 processing charge. If you want to distribute a e-book that is an additional expense to publishing your book to make accessible on the 39,000 outlets. There are also pricing restrictions set by the distribution company on e-books. Digital downloads on the KLE website are set for 50% of the cost of the printed book unless the author says otherwise.

How much will my books cost? We do a flat fee of $6.50 per book. This price includes the print fee, taxes on that fee, and customer service fee assessed by KLE. Because print cost vary per book, and print cost increase over time, this price maybe updated to reflect those charges. Books on average range 100 to 150 pages, word count is 14,000 to 20,000 words. Our books are normally printed 5×8, but other dimensions are offered. Changing the dimensions of the book can also change the price. Our books are also printed paperback, so any hard back books would be an additional expense.

How much will I make per book? Books sold on the KLE website: Book price set on the site does not include shipping and handling, these cost are additional. For example: Books that are $20, will be accessed taxes, shipping, and handling which would raise the price to $26 or there about. The additional $6 is not part of author compensation. From the $20, the $6.50 fee will be subtracted, and the remaining balance will be provided to the author as compensation. On other distribution outlets: We recommend selling all books on distribution channels higher than our website because of the 30 -35% charge. So books usually start at $25, from this cost you would subtract the 30 to 35% fee. From the remaining balance, you would subtract the $6.50 and the remaining would be the authors compensation. On average most authors make between $12 to $13.5 per book. If pricing is adjusted,

When will I receive reports on books sold? Sales reports are generated once a month and sent to the author on the 15th of the following month. For example: Book sales reports for orders made in the month of January, will be provided to the author by Feb. 15th.
